Meet the Teacher!

Hello 1st and 2nd Grade Parents!  My name is Mrs. Carrie Harrison and I am delighted to be your child’s teacher at Dearborn Christian School.  We are going to have lots of fun this year!   I am looking forward our many learning adventures.  I know you are probably wondering about me, so here it is…

I was born in Nashville, TN and my family moved to Michigan when I was 5 years old.  I grew up in Allen Park with Christian parents who love the Lord.  I am the eldest of three children and also the only girl.  When I was 9 years old I accepted Christ into my life as my personal Savior.  I grew up playing “school” with my little brothers and always knew that I wanted to be a teacher.  After graduating High School I began studying at Henry Ford Community College.  After earning my Associate Degree in Elementary Education, I transferred to Wayne State University to complete my Bachelor Degree and earn my certification.

During my final semester of college, I married my best friend and love of my life Jason Harrison.  Our families went to Friendship Baptist where we met when we were 5 years old.  On September 30th we will be married 6 years.  Jason and I have two busy little boys.  Carson is 3 years old and Lyron is 1.  Carson is our little Mr. Independent and Lyron is our Mommy’s Boy.  We also have a white and tan shih-tzu dog named Dudley who loves to steal as many kisses as possible!  Our family still attends Friendship Baptist where Jason serves as the Minister of Music.

I have been working with kids most my life.  I love those little teachable moments in the day that are not always the ones you plan.  I have served as a teacher in my church for over 10 years and still continue with an added responsibility as the Education Director there the last 2 years.  I have taught K-2 Science classes for a local Homeschool Co-Op group and substitute taught in many downriver districts.  Also, I have tutored students out of my home for over 6 years.

This year should be a GREAT one!  Please feel free to stop in any time to say hello.  I look forward to getting to know your family!  See you soon!
